SGA Holds Change Drive

by Chelsea Ayers

The Student Government Association is an elected body of students from all majors and backgrounds who represent not just the student body on campus, but also at a state level. Many faculty, staff and administrative committees on campus have student representatives selected from the SGA members, and the president sits on the Board of Governors. Also the Student Advisory Council of Students interacts frequently with CTCS and HEPC.

They also oversee all clubs and organizations and assist students in being as successful in college and life as possible. They work the welcome table at the beginning of each semester, have fundraisers for the Veterans Resource Center, the Riverhawk Food Pantry, and Campus Career Closet.

Right now, the SGA has a change drive to help raise money for student veterans to thank them for their service and all they do on campus. They will be presenting the money raised near Veterans Day. There is a collection jug from now until November 8th outside of the SGA office. You can donate to it anytime Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The goal is to raise $100 to donate to the veterans. If the goal is met, SGA will also have pizza for students and faculty close to finals week.

To learn more about the change drive or SGA, their meetings are open to all students, faculty, staff and administration on the second Tuesday every month at 2 p.m. in the community room.
