Slayer Announces Farewell World Tour

by Lane Hughes

For 37 years, Slayer has created vicious music that set the bar for genres of thrash, metal and punk. They released 12 studio albums, performed on various TV shows including “The Tonight Show” and received countless accolades including five Grammy nominations and two Grammy awards. As they near their 3000th show, they proclaimed in a dense Instagram post that “the age of Slayer is coming to an end” and will honor their pertinent career by performing one last global tour.

Slayer has solidified its pertinence in music by being one of the “big four” bands that are ascribed as the creators of thrash metal alongside Metallica, Megadeth and Anthrax. The band’s 1986, full-length album “Reign In Blood” is often recognized as one of the most influential and important albums in metal.

On the North American leg of their global tour (May through June), Slayer will be supported by Lamb of God, Anthrax, Behemoth, and Testament.
