A Bad Moms Christmas is a Holiday Hit
by Jessica Madison
“A Bad Moms Christmas” is a must-see, non-traditional, Christmas movie . It was released on Nov. 1. Mila Kunis (Amy), Kristen Bell (Kiki) and Kathryn Hahn (Carla) star in this movie as moms who want to take back Christmas. They first appeared together in “Bad Moms,” which came out in 2016. If you have not seen that movie, then it is a must before you see the holiday sequel.
“A Bad Moms Christmas” is full of good cheer, and with a gross of $39.8 million last weekend, it should be.
This movie is full of laughs, but it also pulls on your heartstrings. In this movie, you get to go along all three women as their mothers come to visit for the holiday season. It shows so many of the holiday astigmatisms and makes them come to life. You see the stress of making sure everything’s going right, you see the fun and joy of this season and of course, the family craziness.
In the beginning of the movie, it shows Amy having a breakdown, and it makes you kind of sad because she feels like she ruined Christmas. Then, it goes back five days to show you how it all started.
Amy, Kiki and Carla’s mothers all come in for Christmas, and you see the relationships they have with their respective daughters. When they arrive, all the craziness starts. One mom is a snob, one is very clingy and one just wants money.
In one scene, Amy, Kiki and Carla go to the mall and have a vent session, which turns into them getting drunk in the mall and going wild. There is a scene in the movie with Santa and the moms, and it is guaranteed to make you laugh out loud. Then, there is some emotional scenes with each one and their moms. This is where they cover the issue that is going on between them.
One of the funniest scenes in the movie is where Carla meets a guy who is in a sexy Santa contest. They watch him perform at the bar, and it is funny to see how that plays out. Another funny scene takes place at an indoor trampoline center where they play dodge-ball against each other.
In the end of the movie, there is definitely a turn of events, and it makes you think that there just might be another “Bad Moms” to come.
I recommend to take a girls day out to go and see this movie. It is what is needed to break up all the craziness of the holiday season; plenty of laughs and time with the girls. And, it brings a lightheartedness to the issues that moms face everyday.
