Burning Springs Haunts Palestine
by Ashley Lewis
What started out as a small Halloween party, at a Palestine residence in 2011, soon grew to be a very popular event. The Burning Springs Haunted Forest is an uphill, and downhill, haunted trail that will be sure to scare you.
This is a family ran event with the help of friends and volunteers.
“This is an actual trail through the deep woods of a family farm in Burning Springs,” Burning Springs Haunted Forest volunteer Sara Clark said.
This event is free of charge, but donations are accepted. All donations are used to purchase more supplies needed for future events.
There are several people from all over the Mid-Ohio Valley that attend this event every year. In 2016, 570 people attended in three nights. There have been past trail events that have had over 1,000 people in three nights.
“We have had various monsters, and each night things change,” Clark said.
Like any haunted trail, there are a few rules set for the safety of the attendees. Make sure to secure your belongings, such as your phone or keys, empty your bladder and last but not least, don’t touch the monsters, and they won’t touch you.
This haunted trail takes place for two weekends. It will take place Oct 20, 21, 27 and 28 from 7:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.
Make sure to grab some friends and come on down to get your scare on.
Directions to this trail are: take Route 5 in Elizabeth to Burning Springs, turn right onto Sanoma Road, then turn right on the first gravel road.
