LGBTQ Support Group Offers a Safe Place

by Ashley Lewis

The Mid Ohio Valley LGBTQ Support Group is offering a safe place for the LGBTQ community of Parkersburg.

Cassie Cline created this group in May. The group is currently looking for more members of the LGBTQ community, including allies, to join a judgment free environment where anyone can come as they are.

“I saw a need for a safe place for the LGBTQ community to get together, meet and get support from one another,” Cline said.

The group is known on Facebook as MOV LGBTQ Support Group. Meetings and other information are posted on their page.

“I want people to know they aren’t alone and even though it is 2017, we still struggle, but we don’t have to do it alone,” Cline said.

The group is currently meeting once a month in room 1329 at WVU Parkersburg from 7 p.m. – 8 p.m. The next meeting is scheduled for September 21.
