Mall Shake Up

The Grand Central Mall begins to undergo many changes to its stores in March and April. Last weekend, Torrid had its grand opening. The mall was filled with black torrid bags. Torrid is a plus size lady store and the sister company of Hot Topic. They sell clothes for women sizes ten and up.

“I am really excited for the new store, they have a lot of nice line of fashion,” Manager at Hot Topic Mariah Thomas said.

The Grand Central Mall released on their website: Grand Central Mall’s newest addition, Torrid, joins its eclectic mix of nationally recognized and locally owned retailers. Torrid is located near the recently remodeled and expanded Victoria’s Secret and PINK. Grand Central Mall is proud to bring some of the most sought-after names in retail, such as Torrid, to the Mid-Ohio Valley area, said Jody Hopkins, general manager at Grand Central Mall. “This is an exciting time for Grand Central Mall as we continue to evolve, offering a varied selection of fashion forward retailers.

“The sales person that helped me was amazing, she helped me with my purchase and explained to me the Haute Cash back,” said Shopper Rachel Williams.

The Torrid grand opening had a great turn out, and the Pinewood Derby took place on the same day. With the new store, another one will be leaving Grand Central Mall.

Hhgregg will be leaving this April. Closing sales have begun, with 40 percent off everything in the store. Hhgregg has only been in Vienna for five years, and recently a press release on march 8th its website: INDIANAPOLIS–(BUSINESS WIRE)– hhgregg, Inc. (“hhgregg” or the “Company”) today announced that as part of its turnaround efforts, the Company plans to close three distribution facilities and 88 store locations in order to reallocate resources to align more closely with its strategic goals to improve liquidity and return to profitability. These decisions will help the Company refocus efforts on its core markets and goals to enhance customers’ experience both in-store and online.

Hhgreg is closing 88 stores country wide, which included the store in the Grand Central mall. They are closing stores that are no longer making any money, and are hoping to grow into the future.
