WVU Parkersburg Student Receives National Honor
by Megan Woods
Congratulations to the 217 students at WVU Parkersburg who have been nominated for the Who’s Who Among Students in Colleges and Universities this past fall.
Since 1934, the Who’s Who Among Students in Colleges and Universities have given merit to students who exceed among and beyond by achieving not only a high grade point average, but also show excellence in leadership, participation within school organizations as well as community involvement. One WVU Parkersburg student, Kayla Lynch, received the honor.
“I felt very honored to be nominated for the Who’s Who Among Students in Colleges. I take my grades very seriously and always strive to do my best with anything and everything that I do.” Lynch said.
Students that have been nominated are considered honorees and can add the award to their resumes.
Not only can honorees add the award to their resumes. If their information is completed on their profile by June 1, 2017, nominees can also be entered into a drawing for a scholarship.
Three scholarship winners will be announced in July of 2017 on the official website, www.whoswhoamongstudents.com, and will be personally contacted by phone and their registered mailing address.
The winners are chosen for scholarships that will come in the amounts of $5,000, $3,000, and $2,000.
Nominated students that have completed their profiles between September of 2016 and June 1, 2017 will be eligible. The winners are randomly drawn in July by an independent judging organization, which will have the final say.
For a fee, nominees can purchase a book of honorees for the year of 2017, with a mention of their name.
This honor is in no way affiliated with the elementary, middle, high schools or national Dean’s list.
